I just want to add a tip for our readers: for any of you gurls new to online "dating", I highly recommend that you adhere to a simple rule -- always insist that your first in-person meeting take place in a public place. No matter how nice he seems online, never agree to meet a stranger in private until you've spent some face time with him in a safe setting.

Our evening was interesting, and I'm really glad Sandra joined us. My informal arrangement with "Rocky" (not his real name) wasn't actually for a "date" so much as a get-acquainted meeting, but I guess it did turn into a date. I really didn't have any plan or strategy ahead of time, and only called Gabby and Sandra on the spur of the moment, hoping to keep the situation convivial and figuring that if the thing with Rocky didn't work out the evening wouldn't be a total loss. In retrospect, I guess I did spring this on both Rocky and Sandra, which might have been a little presumptuous on my part. To their credit, however, both of them handled the situation gracefully and I think we all had a nice evening. I know Sandra, being a married heterosexual, doesn't have much experience "with the guys", and I could tell she was intrigued by the novelty of the experience, so that was kind of fun to observe. Maybe next time I'll chaperon her! ;-)

Hi J -- or is it L? ;-) Welcome to Amarillo TG! It is perfectly alright to start out however you feel most comfortable. You are welcome to email either or both of us directly (you'll find our email addresses on the Get In Touch page). In the meantime, I'm going to put you in Sandra's capable hands, as she usually functions as our welcoming committee. :-) Talk to you soon I hope.

xoxo

HI Gurls,

It's really, really nice to finally see a group form around here. I think my friend Liz that operates a business here in Amarillo told me that you were forming a group. I have be dealing with my transgender since I was 5 or 6 years old and I'm 37 now. What a life... It's not easy or fair. All my life, all I ever wanted was just to be me and for people to like me and accept me for who I am but those two paths haven't intersected very often and I find myself in such a dilemma that I feel as though I have to give up half of who I am. The last 2 1/2 years I have really went after my transition hard after my failed 2nd marriage (whole other set of problems... don't know why? hmmm) But lately, I have been struggling just on a personal level and seem to have just hit a wall. Don't know what to do. That is why I put "J" or "L" in the name box. The world wants one letter and I want the other.

Wow, what a downer. I really am fun loving, sensitive and rather lively.

It's great that you have started a group and I would love to be a part of it. I would like to start out by e-mail and then be a part of your outings and road trips. If that is OK?

I just wanted to add a note about the meeting place. Sandra has made arrangements for us to use a facility that should address any concerns you might have. It is a public facility (as opposed to a private home or that sort of thing), so you don't have to worry about meeting strangers for the first time. But at the same time the facility is not a mainstream venue and it is not open to the general public during our meetings, so you can be assured of protecting your identity and your secret if you so desire.

Also, while you are welcome to come in drab and change on the premises, you don't have to. (We sure don't!) If you prefer to come already dressed and leave that way, that's great too.

I usually don't like to see T-girls in jeans, but Sandra did look good in hers, especially with the long top and the ankle boots. Gabby is always attention-getting with her "Hollywood" look, but Saturday night she was particularly fabulous in her knee length, plunging neckline black dress, gorgeous blond hair and tasteful accessories, really one of her best looks, I think.

Hey, atta girl, Sandra. Congratulations on your very first blog post. You did good.

Just a note on the email addy thing -- Sandra is sincere about encouraging y'all to contact her if you need anything, and I want to add that if you need privacy for your correspondence, an email account with GMail or Yahoo or whatever is another option. I'm encouraging friends to use GMail these days cuz it has lots of neat add-on features and is a bit more bug proof than some of the others.

Hey don't forget Dillards, it's a great place to shop for some really nice clothes and you can catch them on sale at a really great price. So far I've meet with some really nice sales clerks and they don't mind helping, especially when you're spending money.
